Thanksgiving — Protein Bar Style!

Team Protein Bar has so much to be thankful for this year — loyal, raving fans who share our passion for food and doing healthy…healthier AND an amazingly hardworking team dedicated to changing the way the world eats…one bar-rito at a time.

Because this is a “food” holiday , we asked our team (and a few superfans) which foods they’re thankful for. Hope everyone’s day is filled with love, laughter, and of course — delicious eats!

2012 FOODS WE’RE THANKFUL FOR

Matt Matros (Founder)
“I’m thankful for Kale – steamed or chopped, there is literally nothing bad about this amazing SuperFood. Hardly a meal goes by that I dont add some raw or cooked to the side of my entree. Packed with fiber and one of the most antioxidant-rich foods on the planet, Kale literally contains almost the entire vitamin alphabet.”

Mike Ganino (Operating Partner)
“I’m so thankful for the increased availability of high-quality, humanely raised proteins. Do you know where your turkey came from?”

Chef Phil Fox
“Cauliflower mash :) ”

Analisa Terenzio (Marketing Manager)
“Chia Seeds! Small seeds — big impact. I sprinkle a tablespoon or so into my oats, yogurt, and salad dressings.”

Joanna Angarone (Catering Sales Manager)
“Peppers! Perfect way to add a dash of color and hot/sweet kick to your meal.”

DJ Miller (Operations Manager)
”I am thankful for symbiotic cultures of bacteria and yeast – aka Kombucha”

Lauren Arnett (Culinary Manager)
“Nitrate free cured meats! Mmmmmmm…Bacon”

Kevin McHugh (Accounting Manager)
“Pierogis — I am thankful for those polish morsels”

Dan Zyma (New Store Opening Manager)
“My mom’s Sweet Potato Casserole — light on the butter and heavy on the nuts. BOOM!”

Marcus Brown (Accounting Assistant)
I’m super thankful for beets and ginger root this holiday season.”

Ellen Pierce (Protein Bar Superfan)
“The food I am most grateful for on the PB menu is beets. I love Beetbox for its own merits, but also because it reminds me of the borscht I grew up eating at Christmas & Easter dinner, with a ginger twist. So something on PBs menu is not only delicious but it reminds me of big family holiday gatherings.”

Laura Zegar (Protein Bar Superfan)
“Superfoods/healthy recipes I can’t live without: Kale, the Pump-Quinoa, the Spinach & Pesto Bowl, flaxseed oil, pepitas, the HI-5, quinoa, turkey, the Millennium Perk, spaghetti squash, spinach, orange & yellow peppers, lemons, bison, hard-boiled eggs, almond butter, 100% dark chocolate with dried cherries, walnut oil, cottage cheese!”

@Kevin McHugh – being a Polish girl I have to second you on pierogis, and you have access to very good ones at Gene’s Sausage Shop in Lincoln Square. The fresh blueberry filled are my favorite, and I only wish my grandma (who used to make those for me) was still here so that I could fool her with Chobani plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream on top. She would never know the difference!
